ABOUT ME I’m Mike, a Canadian/American. I am or have been an economics student, national champion boxer, dirtbag trip leader, low-paid writer, quantity-over-quality photographer, low-paid consultant, and visa document forger. This blog is the result of my effort to grapple with the reality of this huge, tiny, beautiful, terrible world.
THE JOURNEY In 2017, I took a job in the international development sector in Zambia. The job flew me to India first for onboarding. I stepped out into the sticky Delhi night, got scammed by the cab driver and three more times before 10am the next morning, and then slowly started to learn how to navigate the real world. I spent the next 3.5 years in a dizzying array of places; sometimes for work and sometimes from a burning desire to wedge myself into jam-packed transport and give myself diarrhea, for fun. I started this site to chronicle the adventures and learning experiences.
